The sad story of the gleno dam will remain forever linked to that of the Valle di scalve. On 1 December 1923 the dam collapsed, pouring 6 million cubic meters of water over the valley below and causing a huge tragedy that shook the entire province of Bergamo. In the disaster 356 people lost their lives. Today the dam remains a fascinating ruins and a lake basin about 250 meters long. To reach it you can follow the panoramic path CAI 411, which starts from the plain of vilminore di scalve leads to the dam in about an hour’s walk.
