surrounded by Venetian walls, the pearl of the city of Bergamo cannot be missed
Perched on the hill of Bergamo, Città Alta is the ancient pearl of the orobic capital. Surrounded by Venetian walls, recognized as UNESCO heritage, it still preserves the original layout of its ancient streets and the medieval and Renaissance atmosphere evoked by Piazza Vecchia and Piazza del Duomo. Other monuments of absolute importance are Palazzo della Ragione, Santa Maria Maggiore and the Cappella colleoni, built to house the Mausoleum of the famous condottiero and his daughter. During the visit you can not miss a walk along the city walls where you will find the sixteenth-century Porta Sant'Agostino, surmounted by the Lion of Venice, Porta Sant'Alessandro and Porta San Giacomo.
